I'd like to welcome all new and returning students to their Visual Arts and Graphic Design classes. I am looking forward to a semester full of projects that are interesting and enjoyable. If you ever have questions, you are always welcome to stop by and see me or email me at [email protected]
Please bring a white t-shirt (or other white cloth item) to tie dye on Tuesday, the last day of 1st semester.
Actual or Implied Texture.
Texture refers to the surface quality or "feel" of a work of art. Actual texture- tactile, felt with touch. (The weaving feels soft and bumpy.) Implied texture- visual, suggested by the artist. (The drawing of lion looks furry. The paper itself does not feel furry.) What I'm most looking forward to in 2015 or my New Years Resolution is ...?
Please remember your second semester projects and all of your Free Art Friday's (your Midterm grade for this course) are due Jan. 15th or 16th. Welcome back to school everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break.
We have a great opportunity to raku fire pottery at "Glow in the Snow", hosted by Gus Zuccaro (Nina's Dad). Raku firing is typically done outside, and pieces are removed from the kiln while they are still glowing hot. Raku's unpredictable results and intense colors attract many to this method. "Glow in the Snow" will take place on Sat. Jan 17th. Plan on being at the site for approx. 2 hours. 12:00- 2:00pm 617 Little Pine Creek Rd. Shaler, PA 15223 Students may bring bisque fired items or buy a piece for 5 dollars. The cost to fire is 5 dollars as well. I hope you can join us for this experience! |
